The Survey

Every two years, the Institute for Public Policy and Research helps us to distribute the NCHA, or the National College Health Assessment, that asks questions about not only drinking but other health behaviors. Other colleges around the country distribute this to their students, too, because it is a great way to find out about the health behaviors of students. And, about every semester, we distribute one of our own surveys, which are focused specifically on drinking at MSU. Often, these ask questions about specific "Celebration Events," like holidays or football tailgates. If you have been at MSU for a while, then it is likely that you have participated in one of these surveys yourself!

Here are some sample questions like those you might run into while taking one of our surveys:

  • How many alcoholic drinks do you think the typical MSU student had the last time he/she "partied"/socialized?
  • The last time you "partied"/socialized, how many alcoholic drinks did you have?
  • During the last school year, if you "partied"/socialized, how often did you use a designated driver?
